City planners, gardeners, parents, chefs, food banks, hospitals, students and teachers (all levels pre-school through post - grad), mayors, sustainable business leaders, youth group leaders, YOU! Please join the Phoenix Permaculture Guild and the Master Gardener Program as hosts to Bill Maynard, Vice-President of the American Community Gardening Association. Bill has personal and professional experience in the community and school garden movement and will share that experience and research/findings from the American Community Gardening Association. "School and Community Gardens - A Growing National Movement" will highlight school and community gardens across North America, including gardens at churches, schools, private land, and parks and recreation departments. Bill will also share highlights, Growing Communities: Community Building and Organizational Development through Community Gardening, ACGA’s 2-day workshop. This workshop is a must for anyone interested in starting a community garden. Bill is a master gardener in Sacramento County, California and is Community Garden Program coordinator - City of Sacramento Dept. of Parks and Recreation, a member of California School Garden Network and appointed to State of California Dept of Education School Garden Advisory Committee. Did you know Community Gardens Increase Property Value, Decrease Crime Rates....and Most Importantly "Build Community" amongst neighbors????
